Length of Time to Complete
- Students who begin the BAS with the first 90 credits of an Associate of Applied Science and no prerequisites requirement may complete the degree within six quarters (full-time students taking 15 credits per quarter).
- If a student is not taking full-time classes it may be longer than six quarters, depending on how many credits the student enrolls in per quarter.
- Students may take classes entirely online or via remote video instruction and do not have to drive to campus. Students may also take classes in person. The in-person and virtual classes are offered in a hybrid format (one or two days a week in person) in the evening to accommodate our students’ working schedules.

Early Childhood Education BAS
Do you have a passion for education and working with young children and families? You can advance your knowledge and skills by earning a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Elementary Education BAS
Do you have a passion for education and working in an elementary school setting? You can advance your knowledge and skills by earning a bachelor’s in elementary education. This degree will help you increase your employability and credibility by providing you with a wide range of practical skills. After completing your Bachelor of Applied Science in Elementary Education, you will have the knowledge and skills to work in a public elementary school (K-8) setting. Highline’s teaching program works to promote an anti-racist and anti-biased teaching workforce, centered on social justice. Completion of the applied bachelor’s teaching degree will lead to a recommendation for teacher certification with an elementary education endorsement in Washington state.

Respiratory Care BAS
Do you have a passion for health care? You can advance your knowledge and skills by earning a bachelor’s degree in respiratory care. This degree will help you increase your employability and credibility by providing more complex clinical skills and knowledge in not only the hospital but other care sites. Stronger critical thinking skills, better communication, technical writing, management and education knowledge are now needed for a better prepared respiratory therapist. The addition of advanced clinical experiences provides students with a strong advantage starting out in their career from clinical sites such as Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Virginia Mason, Regional Hospital and Swedish Hospital. A bachelor’s degree in health care will open the door to a wide range of jobs with high wage and advancement possibilities. Highline’s applied bachelor’s Respiratory degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
